More about Sound

In deep rest, the body remembers it’s own rhythm.

What is Sound Healing and how does it work?

Sound healing works with vibration.

Everything in the body has a natural rhythm — breath, heartbeat, brainwaves, the subtle electrical pulses of the nervous system. When we’re stressed, overwhelmed, or holding onto emotion, those rhythms can become a little… tangled.

In a sound session, instruments such as Tibetan bowls, drums and chimes — even the voice — create steady, harmonious vibrations. Your body doesn’t have to “do” anything. It simply receives.

Many people find that the nervous system begins to soften, breathing deepens, and the body gradually returns to a more balanced state. It’s less about fixing something, and more about allowing your system to remember its own natural harmony.

You don’t need to understand the mechanics for it to be effective — your body already knows how to respond to sound.

What happens during a sound session?

Your session takes place in a quiet, comfortable space.

You’ll remain fully clothed and lie down on a treatment table (or sit if you prefer), supported with blankets and cushions so your body can completely relax.

We’ll begin with a gentle arrival — a few moments to settle your breath and intention. From there, I’ll guide the session using a blend of instruments, which may include Tibetan bowls, frame drum, ocean drum, chimes, or tongue drum. Some sounds are grounding and rhythmic; others are light and spacious.

There is no physical manipulation or massage. The work is vibrational rather than hands-on.

At the end, we allow a few quiet minutes to integrate before you slowly reorient and return. Most sessions run for around 60 minutes.

Do I need to believe in anything for it to work?

No belief is required.

Sound works through vibration and the nervous system — not through faith or philosophy. You’re welcome whether you’re deeply spiritual, quietly curious, or simply in need of rest.

An open mind helps, but skepticism is absolutely allowed.

What might I feel during and after a session?

Every experience is unique.

Many people report feeling deeply relaxed, grounded, or clear. Some notice warmth, tingling, gentle emotional release, or drifting into a dreamlike state. Occasionally, memories or insights surface — and sometimes it simply feels like the best nap you’ve had in a long time.

Afterward, you may feel calm and steady, or you may feel a little tender and need extra water and rest. I’ll always suggest moving gently for the remainder of your day.

How is a sound session different from Reiki?

Both work with energy — but in different ways.

Reiki is subtle and quiet, working through light touch or hands just above the body. Sound is more tangible and audible; you feel the vibration as well as hear it.

Some people are drawn to the stillness of Reiki. Others resonate with the immersive quality of sound. Many enjoy alternating between the two, depending on what they need at the time.

There’s no right choice — only what feels supportive for you.

How can sound support me?

My sound sessions are designed to guide the body into a state of deep relaxation.

When the nervous system shifts out of stress mode and into rest, the body can begin to rebalance itself. Many people seek sound support for stress, anxiety, difficulty sleeping, emotional overwhelm, or general tension.

While I don’t diagnose or treat medical conditions, creating space for deep rest can positively influence mental clarity, emotional steadiness, and physical ease.

If you are navigating a specific health concern, sound can be a complementary support alongside appropriate medical care.

Is sound healing safe?

Sound sessions are gentle and non-invasive, and your safety is always prioritised.

Before your session, you’ll complete a short consent form that asks about any medical conditions or sensitivities that may require adjustments — including pregnancy, epilepsy, sound sensitivity, or trauma history.

Sessions can always be modified to ensure you feel comfortable and supported.

If you’re unsure whether sound is appropriate for you, you’re very welcome to reach out and ask.
